Each year, Main Line Health invites graduate students nationwide to join our Main Line Health Institute for Diversity Summer Enrichment Program (SEP). This 10-week internship welcomes students from various backgrounds who are working toward advanced degrees in health-related fields.

Since it began in 2005, the program has mentored more than 40 interns - many who have continued their careers with Main Line Health following their internships.

Meet some of the interns from our Summer 2024 cohort:

Brandi Boynton

Where are you from and where did you go to school?

I am from Brooklyn, NY. I completed my undergraduate degree at SUNY, University at Albany and I am now studying to get my Master of Public Health, concentrating in Healthcare Administration at SUNY, Downstate Medical Center.

What made you want to apply to Main Line Health's program?

I decided to apply to Main Line Health's SEP program because of its mission, specifically, "To improve the quality of life for all people," resonates deeply with my personal values. I believe it's crucial for health systems to recognize and serve diverse populations, and Main Line Health's commitment to this principle is evident in their mission statement.

Also, the program allows me to get hands-on experience in order to deepen my understanding of the field and allow me to actively contribute innovative solutions to the challenges faced by the organization.

What are you excited to learn and do while at Main Line Health?

I'm eager to expand my understanding of healthcare operations at a higher level. I am especially excited to learn how senior leaders prioritize and make important and crucial decisions. Understanding the rationale behind these decisions is vital, as they directly impact the quality of patient care and cannot be made lightly.

Also, I'm thrilled about the opportunity to witness a surgical procedure. Despite my clinical experience, I have not yet had the chance to observe a surgery, and this internship could open that door for me. This exposure would provide invaluable insights into another crucial aspect of patient care. I'm also looking forward to actively contributing innovative solutions to the challenges faced by the organization.

What have you enjoyed so far while at Main Line Health?

My experience at Main Line Health has been rewarding in numerous ways. Primarily, I've valued the opportunity to work on and lead assigned projects. The autonomy to structure these projects has provided invaluable hands-on experience and knowledge that will undoubtedly benefit my future career in Healthcare Administration.

Additionally, I've been impressed by the supportive environment fostered by the faculty and senior leaders at Main Line Health. Their genuine interest in my success and willingness to offer assistance has been crucial for my growth as an early careerist. This supportive culture demonstrates Main Line Health's commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Bobby Paikatt, MD

Where are you from and where did you go to school?

I'm from Toronto, Canada, and I am currently enrolled in the University of Scranton's MBA and MHA Dual Program. I am currently a physician, working part-time in a pain management clinic and studying at the same time.

What are you excited to learn and do while at Main Line Health?

I'm excited to have in-person access to all parts of Main Line Health and all its hospitals. Seeing the operations of a medical center to community hospitals, I was excited with the projects that I was tasked with such as a "Construction Dashboard" for the medical center and writing a business plan for "Pulmonary Interventional Program" to help streamline operations and improve patient outcomes.

What have you enjoyed so far while at Main Line Health?

I appreciated being a part of the team at Lankenau Medical Center, working with the Vice President of Operations (Yonathan Kebede) and his team, helping with the strategic development and implementation of operational projects that improve organizational efficiency and patient care. Having access to the leadership and attending their executive meetings was a great opportunity to learn about the daily operations of a sizable medical facility like Lankenau Medical Center.
