Research at Main Line Health
Lankenau Institute for Medical Research
Founded in 1927, Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR) is one of only a few hospital-associated biomedical research centers in the United States. As the research center for Main Line Health, which serves the Philadelphia region and elsewhere, LIMR conducts laboratory-based and clinical investigations in a tightly knit, multidisciplinary community of scientists, nurses and physicians.
Clinical Trials
At Main Line Health, our patients come first. Part of that commitment is conducting clinical research aimed at helping them live longer, healthier lives.
A clinical trial is a research study that tests the safety and effectiveness of treatments on patients for various health conditions. Studies may test new medications, diagnostic tools or medical devices. Our research teams offer trials for cancer, cardiac and other conditions, giving Main Line Health patients the opportunity to try new and cutting-edge treatments while helping to advance medical knowledge that can benefit future patients. Find out more about clinical trials by reading our frequently asked questions.
Institutional Review Board
The Office of Research Protection is structured to facilitate the review process of human subject research by the Main Line Hospitals Institutional Review Board. We are a resource for navigating the realm of regulatory compliance and fostering the ethical conduct of human subject research within the Main Line Health research community at large.
Sharpe-Strumia Research Foundation of Bryn Mawr Hospital
The mission of the Sharpe-Strumia Research Foundation is to encourage and support the conduct of medical research by practicing physicians on the medical staff of Main Line Health Hospitals and clinician-scientists at the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research. Preference is given to physicians whose primary hospital affiliation is the Bryn Mawr Campus and to research that relates to identified clinical initiatives at the Bryn Mawr campus and Main Line Health Hospitals.
