Interventional Therapies
Interventional therapies
Interventional oncology, a catheter-based technique that targets tumors directly, is a minimally invasive option particularly effective for liver, colorectal, lung, kidney and metastatic cancers. Interventional oncology uses image-guided procedures that can be performed alone or alongside other treatments, offering a comprehensive approach to cancer care. Physicians specializing in interventional oncology come from various specialties, including nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, interventional gastroenterology, interventional pulmonology and thoracic surgery.
Examples of interventional therapies include internal radiation therapy, or brachytherapy, radiofrequency ablation, embolization/chemoembolization, and endoscopic mucosal resection.
