About
Mitchell P. Sternlieb, MD
Dr. Sternlieb, a Philadelphia-area native, joined DVIDA in 2018 after completing his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Nearly half of his training was with the DVIDA physicians but extends further back to his time at Lankenau Medical Center, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He earned his MD degree from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Not only did he live across the street from the Reese's Factory during his four years there, but he also met his wife, Zenobia. He was inducted into the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society. Before medical school, he taught high school Chemistry and Physics in southeastern Washington, D.C. and throughout college and medical school served as a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Lancaster County. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. with honors in Chemistry from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. He also has studied French and Spanish. He has published in Inorganic Chemistry and topics related to Infectious Diseases. His clinical interests include, but are not limited to, medical and graduate medical education, antimicrobial stewardship/infection control, medical informatics, antibiotic resistance, and management of HIV and Hepatitis C. His personal interests include spending time with his wife, daughter, and twin boys, his pets, boating/sailing, bike riding and playing golf.
