Michelle J. Smith, MD
Dr. Smith is a board-certified neurosurgeon with fellowship training in interventional neuroradiology. After earning a medical degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Smith completed her neurosurgery residency and interventional neuroradiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital.Dr. Smith specializes in endovascular neurosurgery, diagnosing and treating advanced neurovascular conditions, such as stroke, brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, among others. She uses imaging technology to perform minimally invasive procedures through small incisions enabling successful outcomes for even the most complex conditions.Dr. Smith's expertise includes open, microvascular and endovascular approaches to treatment. She performs simple to highly complex surgical procedures including cerebral and spinal angiography, Chiari decompression, craniotomy, endovascular embolization of aneurysms (coils, stents), AVMs, and tumors, mechanical thrombectomy for stroke, shunt for hydrocephalus, microneurosurgery, and wingspan® stenting for intracranial atherosclerosis.
