Family Medicine Residency Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital
About Family Medicine at Bryn Mawr Hospital
The Family Medicine Residency Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital is fully accredited in the training of family medicine physicians by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The program was established in 1975 and has over four decades of experience training doctors for the practice of family medicine. When our graduates complete training, they have developed a sophisticated level of knowledge, skills and clinical experience, as well as a personal concern for the patient.
Our vision
The goal of the Bryn Mawr Family Medicine Residency Program is to educate physicians to become specialists in family medicine. Physicians who assume the responsibility for providing comprehensive, compassionate quality health care for the patient and family.
The Residency Program provides educational experiences and resources so that family physicians can learn to be competent, board-certified, compassionate family doctors.
The family physician, now and in the future, holds a key position in any health care system. By being part of an integrated health care system, our family medicine residents are able to provide comprehensive care to patients, regardless of their age, disease or socioeconomic status. Our residency program thrives on the strengths of the Main Line Health system—shared medical staff, consolidation of resources and a growing practice network.
This rich environment of Main Line Health helps us reach our ultimate goal: to provide competent family physicians to our community. We educate our residents to become proficient at a level of medicine that is state-of-the-art, so that they can practice their specialty "straight from the heart."
A message from the director
Welcome to the Bryn Mawr Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. Our dedicated faculty are passionate about educating residents and helping guide them to prepare for the career within family medicine they desire. Every resident has a faculty mentor to support them during the 3 years of residency. Wellness and connection are core parts of our training program and contribute to our resident's successful development.
Our core resident experiences take place within Main Line Health facilities. Building relationships and providing care for an outpatient panel is an important key learning experience for family medicine residents. Our residents get that experience at our outpatient offices — Bryn Mawr Family Practice and/or City Line Family Medicine. Our sites give residents experiences of caring for a diverse patient panel with a multidisciplinary team, integrated psychology, social work, nutrition, and training in LGBTQ care. Residents have variety of electives to ensure their residency meets their individual goals for training.
Our program offers residents an opportunity to develop a strong foundation in family medicine to prepare for their individual goal of a career in primary care. Residents are well prepared for the boards, and the pass rate of the residents in our program for the last 5 years is 100%. Recent graduates of the program have gone on to fellowships in sports medicine, palliative care, women's health, and addiction medicine. Graduates have taken jobs as hospitalists, urgent care, outpatient offices, and are working as innovators in healthcare delivery systems. The skills and experiences our residents gain in the program allow them to be well prepared for a variety of next steps in their career.
I am looking forward to meeting applicants with a passion for family medicine.
Sincerely,
Christine Black-Langenau, DO
Director, Bryn Mawr Hospital Residency Program
