Electrophysiology
Board certified since 2005
Practicing medicine is the greatest privilege I have known, and solving electrical problems in the heart is my greatest passion. As a physician, I never forget that a patient is a person. I treat every patient as I would a family member or friend who seeks my help, with the same dedication to understanding their heart problem and commitment to providing the best care possible.
Dr. Shah is a cardiac electrophysiologist—a cardiologist specially trained to diagnose and treat abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). Arrhythmias involve a malfunction of the heart’s electrical system, which normally regulates the heart muscle contractions that keep the heart pumping blood throughout the body. When this system malfunctions, faulty electrical signals within the heart may cause it to beat too fast (tachycardia), too slow (bradycardia), or irregularly (AFib). The result can be a range of symptoms from mild to severe. Dr. Shah evaluates and treats patients with all types of abnormal heart rhythms, from common conditions such as atrial fibrillation (AFib) to rare, potentially life-threatening disorders such as Brugada syndrome. She has a special interest in the management of arrhythmias in women, particularly during pregnancy, which requires careful adjustment for the wellbeing of both the woman and her unborn child.
