Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Riddle Hospital honored by American Heart Association with Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus award.

Bryn Mawr, PAMain Line Health is proud to announce that its acute care hospitals have been honored with the American Heart Association’s top award for their commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.

Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Riddle Hospital each received the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award for their dedication to ensuring all stroke patients have consistent compliance with best practices and life-saving care.

Stroke is the No. 5 cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States, accounting for one of every 21 deaths. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood and oxygen it needs, so brain cells die. Early stroke detection and treatment are key to improving survival, minimizing disability and accelerating recovery times.

“We are incredibly honored to receive the Get With The Guidelines Award,” said Jack Lynch, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Main Line Health. “This recognition reflects our team’s dedication to improving patient outcomes and delivering the highest standard of care. Our commitment to excellence in stroke care is unwavering, and we will continue to strive for even greater achievements in the future.”

Bryn Mawr Hospital also was named to the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll, with Lankenau Medical Center and Paoli Hospital named to the Stroke Elite Honor Roll, reflecting the speed of door-to-needle times for patients. All four hospitals received the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award.

“The Get With The Guidelines Award is a testament to the exceptional efforts of Main Line Health’s dedicated team of healthcare professionals,” said Ravichandra Madineni, MD, System Division Chief of Neurosurgery at Main Line Health-Jefferson Neurosurgery. “The award highlights the hospitals’ adherence to the latest research-based guidelines for stroke treatment, allowing our patients to have longer, healthier lives and avoid disability.”

Each year, program participants qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality care for stroke patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines participants also educate patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home.
